That's great! Those samey Trump tweets are HILARIOUS!!! And not hurting her career at all! One new album in 15 years? Thats really really good!!! Every action Cher does is flawless!"
That's just silly lol.
We die-hards have had a LOT of disappointments in the last 10 years. Colosseum not getting filmed was a joke! Unbelievable in fact. I had no doubt that we'd get a DVD release of it. Then CTTT singles were a mess - that one is not her fault, although certain outfits she wore whilst promoting the album affected sales. And the Woman's World video took forever to come out and then we were all disappointed. Newspaper wig -- BRILLIANT though. We get 'Red' advertised on her website -- ooh arguably the most potentially commercial song off the album is going to be a single... Oh. No. Nothing happened.
Yes she mentioned an album. But it took a decade for the last one to come out. Because she was spending her time playing a residency. Oh look, we're in the same place again!!! DESPITE the fact that she told us TIME and TIME again that she does not like residencies. And I've been one of the ones that has not criticized Classic Cher. I think it looks like a good show. But when FOUR of the biggest D2K Tour highlights -- Dressed To Kill, Take It Like A Man, I Hope You Find It, YHSTLOM -- have been removed, for the likes of After All again, and Take Me Home again and Walking In Memphis again, it's -- again -- disappointing!
And she does not deliver. It's not that I don't like what she's doing. It's that she's a recording artist and actress but spending extremely little time on each. It would take such little time for Cher to knock out a covers album. Such. Little. Time. And OK a Broadway play is cool, but I've heard about it for 6 years now. The excitement wore off forever ago. The main excitement was when she said that she might play the older Cher. We all thought YAY!! A Tony? EGOT? Woop. But no it's a show about her life that's gonna be watered down for non-fans and casual fans. Like Classic Cher.
I heard Cher say recently on something, something along the lines of "My fans would hate it if I came out and didn't have the costumes"... WHAAAATTTT??? I've seen my whole life fans say that they'd LOVE to see Cher do a show dressed down, just about the songs, some rarieties. And I've seen others complain that there's TOO many costume changes and not enough time on stage. We don't need a new costume for EVERY song.
I care about Cher's happiness. She's bought me lots in my life. As she has millions of others. So it's even more frustrating that she does another residency. She always seems bored in interviews now. She even looks bored during concerts during many of the songs -- bar Turn Back Time and Strong Enough. She's in her element in those songs. And we know she loves them both. And it shows! Half Breed, on the other hand... She walks out, shows off the outfit, then walks back away again. She looks bored.
A few days ago, I spent forever watching all her Letterman appearances. Those were epic. She was so flirty. So fun. So spontaneous. All the things that we love about Cher. And now we get "Let me tell you about the first time I saw Sonny"... Oh nooooo! Not again!!!! We know! West Side Story! Lol.
I mention the Trump tweets because they are the worst. They're EVERY tweet. She ignores the fans. And instead replies to all the haters. And to be honest, she criticizes all these Republican politicians and citizens. Says some really really hateful stuff. Then Republicans respond to her and she'll retweet their tweets, and be like "Look, I'm always getting these hateful tweets from them"! No wonder! What goes around come around. I hate politics. There has been a handful of Trump tweets that have made me laugh. But she's turned so many people against her. I get all these tweets and messages to Cher News -- so many of them -- saying "I used to love Cher but she's spreading fear", "I was a big fan of hers but sorry not anymore" etc. And I don't blame them one bit. I'm not political. I don't care. So they do not affect me at all. I'm not going to go down Cher World's crazy path lol, but I see why people get so annoyed by her tweets. They're not doing her any good. If someone that I admired was constantly slating my views and beliefs, then I'd be pissed off too. And I GENUINELY believe that they have turned more people against her, FAR more, than they have influenced.
""Serve the people who got you there".......what do you think she has been doing for the past 50+ years!!!!!" -- a residency is not serving those people. A residency is serving the casual fans and non-fans and privilaged people in Vegas and DC. Only a few die-hard fans have been able to get to it.
She does not even have to spend time re-issuing Stars. She's just got to give the green light and then a re-issuing record company can do it.
And my comments aren't all based on me at all, they're based on what I see fans saying all the time. I visit this site almost daily. I get messages on the Cher News Twitter and Facebook. I speak for the 80-90% of fans who can't get to Classic Cher. -- Who would love to hear new music. -- Who would love to see Cher strip off the glitz and glamour and have another Silkwood-style acclaimed film role.
We know she's still got so much potential in her. And it's hard to see time wasted on another residency. Again, I love her. As we all do. And I know that what I've said speaks for MANY of us. It's certainly not just me.

We ALL love Cher on here. That's why we spend time on her forum. That's why we sit through an hour programme in only half-decent quality hanging on her every word. I don't believe a single person on this forum WANTS to slate Cher.
We want to say "Woah it was great to see her perform on The Talk", or "OMG it was so great to see her announce that on The Talk". We say both GOOD and BAD. Was it disappointing she did not perform? Yes. So say it. It's a Cher forum. We've all said how FANTASTIC she looked because that was perhaps the most notable thing on the show. People don't criticize her for EVERYTHING. We love her. We know what potential she has. We know what she has to offer. We know that she's 70 but looks 20, 25 years younger. We know her voice is STILL BRILLIANT. We know that if ANYBODY in their 70's can score a Hot 100 hit, it's Cher. We know all this. We know that she can win a Tony. We know that there's another BRILLIANT acting role in her. So it's frustrating for many of us when she then does a residency! Of course it occurred to me that a residency is easier. That and the money are the only two things I can see why she's doing it for. But many of us fans are frustrated that she's stuck in Vegas again. Not asking her to tour even. If she's not up to it, then don't. Just, something else!
Of course we want another album! She's a singer. And she admits she took so long for CTTT because she was lazy. We don't want that happening again.
If I have criticized the Classic Cher set list, costumes, location, time on stage etc without noticing, then it just goes to show that even someone who WANTS to stay positive about the show is actually a bit frustrated with it. And of course it's doing well! - 1) It's CHER! 2) It's only a 5,000-seat venue!
And yeah me too, I look forward to the DVD, but not much -- because, from experience, I know there's a good chance that we won't get one.
If she did a tour without costumes, I do not think she would be slated at all. It's be new for her. And almost every time Cher does something new, it's a success.
Yeah we ALL scroll down the Trump tweets, but it takes us to MORE Trump tweets lol.
Again, we're all fans. All having our say. Clearly, we disagree on what can be said or what our states of mind should be regarding Cher. All I know is that we all love her. Some of us want MORE from her because we know that she has it in her. Whereas some of us are happy to settle for what she's doing. Simple as.

You say "it's Cher's Twitter, she can say what she wants, it's her page" and so on, yet whatever I say about her as a fan on a fan forum, I get moaned at by you.
So Cher can have free speech. But I can't. Every view I've written, you've had an answer for.
People criticize. Get over it. I get criticized. You get criticized. Cher gets criticized. That's life.

You remind me of that "leave Britney alone" kid!
Everyone is entitled to an opinion without you bullying and belittling them for it.
You say you're a Cher fan? Then you should know free speech and difference of opinion are VERY important to our Cher!
And I was at opening night of classic Cher...and it's not the most exciting show I've ever seen. It's great for gamblers and casuals but not made for fans.
No doubt you'll attack my opinion too now....*yawn*

I thought it funny on The Talk she said she thought she wouldn't like the show but she does .. huh ? it's your show you can make it anyway you like .
I'm more disappointed she didn't finish Prayers for this World .. wonder if we will ever get to hear it ? She is doing 2 movies this year. That's something!
The scarves and 1500 meet n greets are for the money . She's replenishing the stock pile plus she supports a lot of people .
My biggest wish is one more album and she's not getting any younger . Am I selfish .. maybe ... but I love the music most of all and really want something new while she can still do it
