Re: *POST YOUR US SHOW REVIEWS HERE* | #1
|
OKay, US tour reviews should actually be reworded as North American...you're leaving us Canadians out and since we're the first ones this time around...
Here's my review. All I can say is WOW!!!!! What a concert! We got line up at 6 pm for the 7:30 showing...the doors didn't open until 6:30, but until about 10 after 6 we could hear Cher rehearsing. We got to enter at 6:35 and my friend was one of the first ones frisked by security...we hit the souveneer booth..definately hit it before the concert! It was nice before, but a mad house aftre, and many items were sold out and some booths were shut down already. The crowd was a huge mix...some young many old, and a pair of drag queens or Cher impersonators which the crowd was going wild over. Tommy drake was supposed to be on at 7:30. He made it about 7:45 and wen until 8:30. Then there was a half hour intermission for those with short attention spand and nicotine habits. Cher came on at 9:00 and went until 10:33. Tommy Drake's show was wonderful! It was a great way to get into a good mood for the concert!!! He had some wonderful parts, and made fun of all our Red deer people beautifully!!! He can be a bit risque but he's good. Cher started from the ceiling on the chandelier, did her song and then gave a comedy bit as well which was wonderful!. The Elephant is there...not as many hoop dancers as the DVD, but we saw Cirque de amis at K-days before the show (which we had free admission to with our cher tickets) so we got our hoop acrobats and our ribbon dancers there...but there was some of each in the concert. the costumes were amazing..man! Pictures do not do them justice!!! I dont remember the songs sang..there was the halfbreed/gypsies, tramps and thives/darklady medley, the shoop shoop song, if i could turn back time, a couple of her older songs from a bit before my time, and the encore was believe. We all had to clap and stand and whoot for that one. Then confetti was shot out above the lucky floor people, and I know one lucky stiff who got Cher money...but I didn't. The souveneer stands had the basic stuff..no pendant, no blanket or jacket. Had the magnets, the buttons, t-shirts and of course the tour book. The living proof t-shirt (the one I bought) has the tour dates on the back...from Calgary, AB toTallahassee, FL. Dates beyond that, maybe they'll be making anew swhirt for. The tour book is gorgeous. We were concert date #233 on this tour. One Calgary reviewer apparently said that she loked tired (Im in Edmonton, not Calgary..so this is second hand info) but to me she looks a bit tired..her eyes do, but that could be (at risk of upsetting poeple) her eyelift maybe finally showing a bit of age. As far as the way she talked and danced she looked great to me. She seems a bit tired when you look at her face, but thats the only way it shows. All in all I rate this concert 5 stars!! It was a wonderful time!!! the only minus I have for it is the retards coming in late (at 9:10 for a 7:30 concert???If she had started on time they would have missed most of it!!) and all the morons getting up continuously for more beer. Why would you want to get looped when you spent 85 dolars on tickets??? The tour book cost 35 dollars Canadian and the XXL t-shirt was 48 dollars Can. 45 if you get only the XL, but I like roomy!!! I took pictures, but I'll be getting them developed tomorrow..not sure if they worked or not..I really hope so but I had a camera in my way (Cher's for her video TV's that are posted on either side of the stage) so if they worked I'll try and post them as soon as I can. Im off to bed now. between the K-days, the circus there and then the Cher concert (and the hour wlak to my car before and after the concert) I'm pooped. Im going sleepy byes. Its bad enough I'll be deaf and tired at work tomorrow. Please visit my Cher_concert group!!!

Re: SETLIST & COSTUME CHANGES | #3

Don't quite know what you mean by set list..you'lll ahve to tell me that one..you mean the actual set? The list of songs? Not sure. She stuill does the ringmaster bit, it was after her comedy dialogue..it led into it...
Don't knwo what you want to knwo about costume changes...she does...frequently. Every other song there is a new costume and hopefuly i got all but 2 of them on film so there would have to be about 8 or 9 differnt changes i think..I'll know more when the pics get developed. She wears, the red glitery one with the red wig (thats my personal favourite), the white glittery one, the black s and m one which Im sutre is the favourite of many a guy here, the elephant costume...indian maybe...the cat one with the mane...the jeans and white shirt, the coloured funky bell bottoms, and I can't remember the rest.' The set was a two story, looked kinda like the foyour of a manor house...curving stairs on either side with a balcony in betweent hat for some shows she would be elevated on top and for others she would come through the doorway which when closed has stars on it...there are some markings on the stage but couldn't see what exactly they were, pretty celtic designs I things. Lots of lighting over the crowd and over Cher. I already listed the song list I could remember...um...videos playing in the background on the 3 screens, the middle one quite often was a split screen wuitht he video and live cher to the Right. (our right, not Cher's right). NO clowns thank god! A few dance scenes between songs, guitar solos, etc to distract us from stage set ups, and lots of videos stuff during her cistume changes. I woudl have to guess that for an hour and a half concert...that we got about 12-15 songs..that includes the four in the medley. It wasn't as many songs as I had hoped...so Im not sure on the total. She had davod letterman clips and other TV show clips, movie clips..oh yeah she sand the song that was a duet with Peter Cetera...her bassist i think it was sung it with her. Forgot that one in my song list...The showed scenes from Moonstruck to that one. I hope I havn't missed anything. If I did post and let me know, and everyone cross their fingers for me that the piccies worked. i really hope they did. Please visit my Cher_concert group!!!

Re: SETLIST & COSTUME CHANGES | #5

Okay...I dnot remember the entire isting then, just what I emntioned, but if you are wondering about particular songs and give me the titles I can tell you if it was played, as then I'll remember whether i heard it or not.
the shoop shoop song but Im not too familiar with that era so Im not sure what album that is from. It was never one of my favourite songs. bang bang..is that the name of the song??? catchy tune but not one I had heard before... no jessie james, or any of those catchy songs. Medley was some song that was one of her first hits (I know, really helpful arent I...) half breed/gypsies tramps and thives and darklady. I found someone was played. Im reading the tour book now to see what songs were played, so forgive the sporadicness of the listing now... I found one interesting thing about the concert though, whenever she has a song that emntioned anyting that could be controversial, such as gypsies...tramps and thives, draklady where she does her gypsie...dance and there were a couple of other point...I think it was half breed where she said indian...she mumbles it. So it can't necessarily be understood unless you knwo the song. I thought that was kind of interesting. Couldn't find anymore song listings...there is one more ballad I'm sure I am misisng, but other then that I thnk i may have most of them. I will say perhaps I have misssed 2 maybe 3 songs...if there is one you are wondering was played ask and I can hopefully tell you yea or nay. Please visit my Cher_concert group!!!

Re: SETLIST & COSTUME CHANGES | #6

One other thing that I have to add, and I really hope Cher sees t!!! I ahve heard that tickets int he Statses cost about 85 dollars, that the tour book is 30-35, and t-shirts are 40-45..is that about right??? I knwo the internet site those are the prices of the product...well I wanted to say, those are the prices in Canada as well. I paid 85 for my ticket, 35 for the book and 48 for the T-shirt...if these prices are the same I want Cher to knwo I say Thank you!!!! Us Canadians finally get a break!!!
The exchange on American money in Canada is unbelieveable so that same tour book bought on the net for us will be about 45 or 50 dollars instead of 35 at the concert, the tickets would have cost us 130-135 each. If Im right on how the pricing is for her concerts...I love Cher cause it made it affordable for the Candians to go see her and buy the couveneers. It emans the Americans pay a bit more unfortunately, but usually its the other way around and Im ecstatic. (No offence intended to anyone) I just had to post this for all our Canadian concert goers...dont go to the concert thinking you buy the souveneers from the net when its more convenient..its cheaper for us at the actual concert. WE save a good 20-30 %. Please visit my Cher_concert group!!!

Hi,
It sounds like you had a great time, so HAPPY for you! I'd like to know if any of these were done. My favorite: Take Me Home (where she wears the really sparkley (last time I heard RED) shimmer bead gown and head cap. Heart Of Stone, All Or Nothing, One By One dance melody she was doing in Europe. Thanks, Chris |

Re: SETLIST & COSTUME CHANGES | #9

I also went to the Cher concert in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and there are no words to describe the show!!!!!!!!! It was a Cher Experience and coming from a BIG Cher fan that just about sums it up!!!!!
I was mesmerized by her and her dancers, and even the 3 bigscreens that showed all types of Cher things in the between stages of getting ready for the next song, was FABULOUS!!!!! Some people feel they would have liked to see more of Cher, but who wouldn't? If she was there for a month singing it would not be enough for some. She is TRULY a DIVA in the truest sense, and I will always remain a true fan. Loved it and am still in search of a shirt that was on sale at the concert for $90.00 Canadian. It was a purple shirt with long sleeves and it was different from all the other shirts that were on sale. I purchased other things and was soooooo excited about it all I forgot to get the $90.00 one. I have checked Ebay and the Cher store and it is not there. If anyone knows of where to get one just let me know!!! THanx Can't wait to see if our pics came out either. We sat next to a security guard all night on the floor and had to sneak pics as she had told us that cameras were allowed but not to photo the concert at all. I will also keep posted here to see any other pics that others may have taken GREAT JOB CHER!!!!! I MISS YOU ALREADY!!!! THIS CONCERT IS A MUST GO AND DON'T BE AFRAID TO PAY THE PRICE FOR THE GOOD TICKETS, IF AVAILABLE, AS THEY ARE WORTH IT. I WOULD GO AGAIN A MILLION TIMES OVER!!!!! YEEHAW!!! |

Speechless! | #10 | ||

I just saw the "Cher-est show on earth!" two nights ago. It was AMAZING! We had second row tickets DEAD CENTRE! It was as close as you would be sitting across the table from Cher. I still can't believe it. They were almost better then the front row seats even, as they ahd to look very high up to see her. I just wish that we saw more of Cher rather then comedians and fillers. It was great though. The dancers and acrobats were unbelievable and the costumes kicked! I would have to say my favourite one was the "snow queen" type cloak that she entered in. She really did look beautiful in it. I think my favourite songs were Dark Lady, Gypsies Tramps and Thieves, and Half Breed which were all in the same medley which was great. And I swear on my grave that Cher waved at me. Wow. I picked up the Farewell Tour DVD, and the black babydoll tee with the sparkly CHER. Caught quit alot of "Cher Dollars" too. I've been watching the DVD ever since, and I'm still not tired of it. A definite must see, 5 stars. I would walk 500 miles to see it again. Haha.

Money... | #12 | ||

Yah, it went very fast, not much was left on the floor at all, and that was picked up with in five minutes too, but it's really neat. If you look up on ebay for "cher dollars" or "cher money" you can find some for farely reasonable prices as low as 95 cents plus shipping last time I checked. I too have started a "Cher Book".

Making a scrap book is a pretty cool idea. I'm gonna have to consider making one. I never had floor seats, but seats on the side of the stage (very close to the stage). In Vegas, one of the workers gave me and my friend 2 cher dollars. We were soooo happy!! Such a nice guy! Some girl came up to him and asked him if she could have one of the dollars cos she saw him giving it to us, but he said that he had none left...which wasn't true.

In the North American Tour in Edmonton, she came out of a chandelier at the beginning of the show, singing I still haven't found what I'm looking for, and wore the dark wig with the snow queen costume.
